Flash Fiction

I started writing flash fiction a few years ago and continue to write it

becauseI find it very satisfactory to invent a story which has a element

of surprise, a character depiction, an action and/or dialogue that is

short but effective which are all elements that contribute to a successful

flash piece. Some pieces can be as short as 100 or less words and it really

takes a lot of concentration to convey an event and give it a literary

and/or poetic turn which is also the hallmark of a short short. The poetic

element gives the piece intensity and keeps it alive in the reader's mind,

adding to its verisimilitude which is mainly achieved by a realistic

event and/or description which could be of a place, a character,

or a significant event.
